The Veprecula, or little bramble, the first manuscript newspaper published semi-monthly in St. George, 1864-1865.

Copy of the Veprecula newspaper from its first issue in May 1864 until June 1865. Includes essays on government, religion, Utah and Mormon history, and the Civil War. Also contains community news of St. George and fictional stories. The final page is an issue of The Comet, September 2, 1864.

Charles Lowell Walker, an early Mormon diarist and "Poet Laureate" of the Cotton County Mission, was born in Staffordshire, England, on November 17, 1832. His father's family had converted to Mormonism in Manchester and his sister Ann traveled to the United States to marry Parley P. Pratt.
